Kerala Piravi Day - a celebration of growth, unity, and cultural awareness: Message by P.N. Baburajan

November 1 marks Kerala Piravi - the birth of our beloved state and a moment to reflect on how far we have come since 1957. On this Kerala Piravi, I wish that our Kerala continues to flourish with the same love and harmony among Malayalis in Kerala and across the world. After the formation of the state, Kerala’s growth - in social, cultural, and developmental aspects - has been remarkable and deeply relevant. While we often measure progress by looking at roads, infrastructure, and other basic facilities, true development also lies in how education and awareness have shaped our society. The government’s commitment to free education created opportunities for everyone, transcending barriers of caste, religion, and region. It opened the doors of knowledge, built confidence, and inspired generations to seek opportunities beyond borders while remaining rooted in our shared identity.

Education not only brought prosperity but also strengthened Kerala’s social and cultural fabric. It nurtured a generation that values inclusiveness, dialogue, and unity - where people come together beyond differences in celebrations, marriages, and even political discussions. Parents began to encourage reading, world literature, and cultural learning, helping children grow with awareness and understanding. This collective progress has made Kerala stand out among Indian states, not just in literacy and welfare but also in agriculture, resource management, and community consciousness. Even when differences arise in religion or politics, our togetherness remains above all. On this Kerala Piravi, let us take pride in these achievements and renew our commitment to positive thinking, shared growth, and the continued harmony that defines the true spirit of Kerala.
