Doha, Qatar: Qatar Airways Group has officially announced the appointment of Hamad Ali Al-Khater as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective Sunday, December 7, 2025. He takes over the role from Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, marking a significant leadership transition for the national carrier.
Al-Khater
joins Qatar Airways Group from Hamad
International Airport (HIA), where he served as Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure, he played a critical
role in ensuring safe and reliable airport operations, while driving strategic
direction, operational excellence, infrastructure growth, and continuous
enhancements to the passenger experience.
Before
his leadership role at HIA, Al-Khater held senior positions at QatarEnergy, contributing to major
strategic initiatives, business development, and large-scale operational
projects. His diverse experience across Qatar’s key sectors positions him
strongly to lead the global airline into its next phase of growth.
Chairman of Qatar Airways Group Board of Directors, H E Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, extended gratitude to Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer for his service and welcomed Al-Khater to his new role. He reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to delivering world-class service, innovation, and reliability, adding that the leadership transition will further strengthen the airline’s expansive global network and dedicated team.
