A tragic accident in Kenya has claimed the lives of at least five Indian tourists based in Qatar, who were on a holiday trip with a larger group. The incident occurred on Monday in Nyandarua County, located in northeastern Kenya, when the bus carrying the tourists reportedly lost control and plunged into a gorge. The tour group was primarily made up of individuals from South India, according to sources from the Indian expatriate community in Qatar.

While the identities of the deceased are yet to be officially confirmed, community sources indicate that the victims were long-time residents of Qatar. In addition to the fatalities, at least 27 other passengers sustained injuries of varying degrees and have been admitted to multiple hospitals across the region for medical treatment. Local authorities and emergency responders quickly reached the scene to carry out rescue operations and transport the injured.

Efforts are currently underway to coordinate with the Indian and Qatari embassies in Nairobi to facilitate the identification of the victims and provide support to the survivors. The Indian community in Qatar has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and is closely monitoring developments. More details are expected as authorities release official statements following the completion of identification procedures and investigation into the cause of the crash.
