Qatar Embassy issues travel advisory for citizens heading to US for FIFA World Cup 2026

Doha: The Qatar Embassy in Washington has issued a list of guidelines for its citizens travelling to the United States for the FIFA World Cup 2026, including general precautionary measures, travel tips, and emergency contact details.

Travellers are advised to ensure passport validity for no less than six months from the date of travel, obtain the appropriate visa, and comply with the permitted period of stay. Match tickets should only be purchased from official platforms to avoid fraud, and accommodation and transportation should be booked early due to expected congestion.

Citizens are urged to keep paper and electronic copies of passports, visas, tickets, and reservations, and to check content on phones and electronic devices, avoiding storage or resharing of any sensitive content that could be misunderstood. Travellers should avoid carrying prohibited substances or medications not authorised by prescription, comply with local laws, beware of theft and pickpocketing in crowded places, and use reliable means of transport.

The embassy also advised following official instructions issued by FIFA and relevant authorities, and downloading the FIFA World Cup 2026 app to stay informed of updates. In case of emergencies, citizens can contact the embassy in Washington at +1 (202) 320-0803, the Consulate General in Los Angeles at +1 (424) 239-9903, the Consulate General in New York at +1 (631) 612-7035, or the Consulate General in Houston at +1 (713) 355-7333.
