Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has secured the top position on Forbes’ list of the World’s Highest-Paid Athletes for the third consecutive year, boasting estimated earnings of $275 million over the past twelve months. This impressive figure places him just behind retired boxer Floyd Mayweather, who holds the record for the third-highest earnings by an active athlete ever recorded by Forbes, having earned $300 million in 2015 and $285 million in 2018.
Notable earnings from other athletes:
Following Ronaldo, Golden State Warriors’ point guard Stephen Curry ranks second with earnings of $156 million, creating a significant gap of $119 million between the two athletes.
However, Ronaldo isn’t the only football star raking in substantial earnings this year. His historical rival, Lionel Messi, sits in fifth place with $135 million, while current SSL champion Karim Benzema claims the eighth spot with $104 million.
