The United Nations on Wednesday condemned the recent Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, describing them as “horrific.” The attacks reportedly targeted schools, homes, and tents of displaced people, resulting in over 100 Palestinian deaths on Tuesday evening. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, emphasized the clear international laws protecting civilians and called on Israeli forces to uphold their humanitarian obligations.

Turk lamented the tragic timing of these massacres, as Gazans were beginning to hope for relief from the ongoing bombardment. Gaza's Ministry of Health reported that hospitals received 104 bodies, including 46 children and 40 women, and 253 injured individuals, comprising 78 children and 84 women, following the Tuesday airstrikes.

According to Palestinian medical sources, the death toll in Gaza has risen to 68,643-mostly children and women-since the Israeli offensive began on October 7, 2023. The number of injured has climbed to 170,655. Many victims remain trapped under rubble, with rescue efforts hindered by the ongoing conflict.
