Doha, Qatar: The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), under the patronage of the Embassy of India,
officially inaugurated the highly anticipated ICC Carnival 2025 at ICC
Film City, located within the Ideal Indian School Grounds. Day 1 of the
event marked the beginning of a vibrant, multi-day celebration of Indian cinema
and culture, drawing an enthusiastic crowd from Qatar’s Indian community and
the broader multicultural population.
The
venue was transformed into a visual tribute to the golden era of Indian cinema,
featuring life-size cutouts of legendary film icons that quickly became
favorite selfie spots. The festive environment blended nostalgia with vibrant
entertainment, creating a magical space that celebrated the enduring legacy and
unity of Indian film storytelling.
Guests
were treated to a feast of flavors at live food stalls hosted by popular Indian
restaurants across Qatar, while a traditional bazaar-style market showcased
ethnic handicrafts, jewelry, textiles, and home décor. Cultural pavilions
representing various Indian states offered an immersive journey through the
country's artistic heritage, enriching the overall carnival experience.
Among
the day’s standout attractions were the art exhibition “INDIA” by VAFI and a visually captivating photo exhibition—both
earning wide acclaim from visitors and art enthusiasts. For families and
children, the day was filled with delight thanks to magic shows, stilt walkers,
and interactive roaming performers, ensuring a joyful and inclusive experience
for all age groups.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Vaibhav A. Thandale, Counsellor (HOC & Consular) and Coordinating Officer of ICC, alongside senior officials from the Indian Embassy, esteemed Qatari guests, and prominent media figures and influencers. As the first day closed on a high note, anticipation continues to build for Day 2, which will feature a grand live concert by Anoop Sankar, along with more cultural showcases and unforgettable moments.
