Earthquake of 6.7 magnitude strikes Indonesia

An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale struck Papua province in Indonesia on Thursday.


According to the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, the epicenter of the quake was located 32 kilometers east of Sarmi district, at a depth of 18 kilometers. So far, there have been no reports of material damage or human casualties. 


Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes due to its position on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where numerous tectonic plates converge, leading to regular volcanic and seismic activity.
