Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has announced a strategic initiative to launch a high-speed electric rail project that will enhance connectivity between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. This endeavor aims to bolster cooperation and developmental synergy, advancing sustainable growth and mutual prosperity in the region.
According to the Ministry, the high-speed train will cover 785 kilometers, linking the capitals of Doha and Riyadh. The route will pass through key regions such as Al-Hofuf and Dammam and connect Hamad International Airport with King Salman International Airport. With speeds exceeding 300 kilometers per hour, the train will cut travel time between Doha and Riyadh to just two hours, significantly enhancing business, tourism, and economic growth.
The project is expected to attract over 10 million passengers annually, offering seamless travel experiences across Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, it is anticipated to create more than 30,000 jobs and generate approximately 115 billion riyals in GDP revenue for both nations, marking it as one of the most strategic projects supporting regional development and integration among GCC countries.
