Ministry reminds motorists of proper seating position for children in moving vehicles

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has reminded thd motorists in Qatar about the importance of proper seating positions for children in vehicles.

The Ministry emphasized that a child's safety is a responsibility, not an option. In an official statement, the Ministry highlighted that allowing children under ten to sit in the front seat is a traffic violation and a serious safety risk, as outlined in Clause (3) of Article (55) of the Traffic Law. The Ministry warned that children under ten are eight times more likely to suffer serious injuries in a crash compared to adults.

"The airbag, designed to protect adults, can be fatal for children due to its force and their smaller body size," the Ministry noted.

Ministry reiterated the need for children to be seated in the rear seat and secured in an appropriate child safety seat.

Adults should ensure that the safety seat is properly fastened and that seatbelts are used during every journey. The Ministry also urged adults never to leave a child unattended inside a vehicle under any circumstances.
