Children affected by the war in Gaza are participating in a groundbreaking therapy program using virtual reality (VR) headsets, which transport them to a world far removed from the devastation around them.

This innovative VR therapy aims to enhance the children's psychological wellbeing, with experts suggesting it may yield faster results than traditional therapeutic methods.

Abdalla Abu Shamale, a mental health supervisor, highlighted that the VR headsets provide more than just an escape. "Through programmers, we can design games with therapeutic, preventive, and developmental goals that help prepare the child or enable them to cope and manage their life more effectively," he told AFP.

The VR sessions are tailored for traumatized children, considering their physical and psychological conditions, and are helping them rebuild positive perceptions of the world.
