Geneva: Iran has
signalled cautious optimism following the latest round of indirect nuclear
discussions with the United States, saying the negotiations have moved forward
in a constructive manner.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the talks, mediated by Oman
and held in Geneva, resulted in progress on key principles that could shape the
next phase of negotiations. While no final agreement has been reached, he
described the atmosphere as more productive compared to earlier rounds.
The discussions focused on long-standing issues surrounding Iran’s
nuclear programme, including uranium enrichment and the scope of sanctions
relief. Differences remain, but both sides agreed to continue engagement and
work on draft proposals ahead of the next meeting.
Washington has maintained that diplomacy remains its preferred approach, though officials have repeatedly stated that alternative options remain on the table if negotiations collapse.
