New Delhi [India], March 12 (ANI): Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, hosted an Iftar dinner in New Delhi on Wednesday, bringing together dignitaries and religious leaders. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Azar emphasized the significance of Ramadan in Israel, where Muslims make up about 15 percent of the population. He highlighted the country's commitment to religious freedom, noting that Ramadan is widely observed in cities like Haifa and Jerusalem, with 75,000 worshippers visiting Al-Aqsa Mosque daily.
The
Ambassador stated that Israel is hosting Iftar gatherings worldwide as part of
its outreach to the Muslim community. He expressed honor at the presence of
prominent figures, including Imam Iliasi, and reaffirmed Israel’s pride in
being part of this tradition. The event also featured a musical celebration,
fostering an atmosphere of unity and cultural exchange.
Discussing India-Israel relations, Ambassador Azar highlighted growing economic and technological collaborations. He noted that a delegation of 80 Israeli companies recently visited India to explore investment opportunities, with upcoming agreements in sectors like agriculture, defence, water management, and infrastructure. He also mentioned the anticipated visit of Israel’s Agriculture Minister in April, underscoring the strengthening partnership between the two nations.
