Doha, Qatar: The
Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has officially launched the
second edition of the 2026 guidance document regulating student admission and
registration in Qatar’s private schools and kindergartens. This updated guide
establishes a comprehensive regulatory framework for admissions, transfers, and
record-keeping across all private educational institutions in the country.
Key reforms in this
edition include the adoption of a unified timeline for registration and
transfers, as well as expanded exceptions to provide more flexibility for
families. Notable updates allow students transferring from outside Qatar or
moving between certain curricula to be admitted based on their most recent
academic records regardless of age, provided they pass school admission tests.
The guide also streamlines procedures for student withdrawals and strengthens
admission controls for students with disabilities or learning difficulties by
adjusting maximum age limits.
A unified schedule has been outlined to assist parents: the registration mechanism will be announced in December, with applications starting in March. General registration remains open throughout the year based on vacancy, though specific deadlines are set for curriculum transfers—end of January for different curricula and end of February for moves within the same curriculum. Additionally, a new digital "Compulsory Education Enrollment Platform" was introduced to simplify these procedures and ensure every child’s right to education in alignment with national laws.
