Doha: Twelve students from Podar Pearl School participated in the fourth edition of Story Relay, Pass the Baton, an international collaborative storytelling initiative hosted by SAI International School, Bhubaneswar, and inspired by the Round Square IDEALS.
The initiative brought together 17 schools
from Qatar, Sharjah, Dubai, Australia, and India to create a shared storybook
and audiobook around the theme "A Green World – Our Dream Come True."
As a member of the Round Square network, Podar Pearl School provided its
students with an opportunity to collaborate with peers from different
countries, exchange creative ideas, and contribute to a collective literary
project. The activity encouraged students to develop communication, creativity,
critical thinking, and collaboration through storytelling, illustration, and
audio performance.
The Story Relay initiative enabled
participating schools to contribute individual chapters that were connected
into one larger narrative, with each school building upon the ideas and events
introduced by the previous participants. Podar Pearl School contributed Chapter
9, titled "The Weight of a Choice," which explores themes of
environmental stewardship, friendship, courage, and the importance of making
choices that safeguard the future.
As part of their contribution, the 12
students were involved in writing, illustrating, and audio-recording Chapter 9,
allowing them to explore different aspects of literary creation while
collaborating on a project that extended beyond their own school. The completed
collaborative storybook and audiobook were shared with the participating Round
Square schools, marking the successful culmination of the fourth edition of the
Story Relay project.
The initiative reflects the value of international school collaborations in nurturing young people who can communicate across cultures, think creatively, and engage with global challenges. Through their contribution to Chapter 9, the students of Podar Pearl School demonstrated how storytelling can bring together imagination, environmental responsibility, and shared learning.
