QatarEnergy expands African portfolio with hydrocarbon discovery offshore Congo

QatarEnergy has announced a new hydrocarbon discovery in the MHNM-6 NFW well within the Moho G structure, located offshore in the Republic of Congo. This discovery is part of the Moho exploration and production license, where QatarEnergy holds a 15% stake.

The discovery was made through the MHNM-6 NFW well, which encountered a 160-meter hydrocarbon column in high-quality Albian reservoirs. TotalEnergies E&P Congo (TEPC) serves as the operator with a 63.5% share, alongside partners Trident Energy (21.5%) and Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (15%).

His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President & CEO of QatarEnergy, expressed satisfaction with the find, stating that it further strengthens the company’s international portfolio. QatarEnergy plans to work closely with TotalEnergies and the Congolese government to develop these resources. Data and sampling from the well are currently being analyzed to guide future development plans.
