Qatar weather: Chances of strong winds and high seas expected this weekend

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has released a weather advisory for the period of February 6-8, 2025, warning residents to prepare for challenging weather conditions. The three-day weekend forecast predicts persistent strong winds and high seas along the coast, with moderate temperature fluctuations.


From Thursday, southeasterly to southerly winds are expected to blow at speeds of 12 to 22 knots, with gusts potentially reaching up to 26 knots. Residents should be prepared for slight dust conditions, particularly in the evening, along with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and a chilly night. Daytime temperatures are forecasted to peak at 25 degrees Celsius before dropping to 18 degrees Celsius overnight, while wave heights could range from 3 to 7 feet, potentially climbing to 11 feet.


On Friday, temperatures may rise slightly, with highs reaching 26 degrees Celsius and lows of 19 degrees Celsius. Northwesterly winds between 10 to 20 knots, possibly gusting up to 28 knots, are anticipated throughout the day. Slight dust to blowing dust will persist, along with a chance of scattered light rain, and the sea conditions will remain rough, with waves expected to reach up to 10 feet.


The weekend will conclude on Saturday with moderate daytime temperatures of 23 degrees Celsius, dipping to 16 degrees Celsius at night. Offshore conditions are expected to be notably higher, with northwesterly winds ranging from 7 to 17 knots, possibly increasing to 24 knots. Wave heights are predicted to be between 3 to 5 feet, with the potential to rise to 8 feet.
