Excitement is building ahead of
the Asia Cup 2025, set to begin
on September 9, with the much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash scheduled for
September 14.
The tournament will be played in the T20 format this year, featuring six top
Asian cricketing nations battling for continental supremacy. The schedule,
accessed by India Today, was officially confirmed by Asian Cricket
Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi.
A
total of 19 matches will be played during the tournament, which will be hosted
across two venues in the United Arab Emirates — Abu Dhabi and Dubai. While the
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) retains hosting rights, the event
is being held at a neutral venue due to ongoing diplomatic tensions involving
India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
India
and Pakistan have been placed in the same group, ensuring a high-stakes group
stage clash that is expected to draw massive global viewership. The second
group consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The top teams from
each group will advance to the Super Four stage, followed by the final on
September 28.
The venue allocation for individual matches has not yet been finalised, but fans can expect a packed schedule filled with fierce rivalries and thrilling contests. The tournament serves as a crucial preparatory platform for teams ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, further elevating its significance in the cricketing calendar.
