The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken action against three senior Air India officials due to "serious and repeated violations" in flight crew scheduling. These violations, reported by the airline itself, showed that crew members operated flights without meeting essential licensing, rest, and recency requirements.

The issues were discovered during a shift from the Aviation Resource Management System to the CAE Flight and Crew Management System. The DGCA noted systemic failures in scheduling and compliance monitoring, raising concerns over the lack of disciplinary measures against responsible officials.

The officials identified are Hoorah Singh, Divisional Vice President; Pinky Mittal, Chief Manager in Operations, Crew Scheduling; and Payal Arora, Crew Scheduling - Planning. The order came days after the recent Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad.

The DGCA has directed Air India to remove them from crew scheduling duties, initiating internal disciplinary actions with results expected in ten days. The DGCA said that the officials will be temporarily reassigned to non-operational roles. This decision will remain in effect until the necessary corrective reforms in scheduling practices are fully implemented. The officials will not occupy any positions that could directly impact flight safety or crew compliance until further notice.
