Eight dead, 28 injured as vehicle plunges into gorge in India’s Maharashtra

At least eight people lost their lives and 28 others were injured, 15 critically, after a pickup vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Maharashtra, India on Saturday. The accident occurred near Chandsaili Ghat in Nandurbar district. 


Rescue operations were swiftly initiated by police and disaster response teams, with the injured being transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The victims, identified as Hindu devotees, were returning from a pilgrimage at a local shrine. 


Initial investigations suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating a sharp curve. Authorities have registered a case and launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
