Doha, Qatar: Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced the reopening of the delivery platform Talabat following a one-week administrative suspension due to violations of the Consumer Protection Law. This decision comes after Talabat's adherence to the Ministry's requirements through comprehensive corrective measures.
On September 10, 2025, the Ministry issued Administrative Decision No. 29/2025, mandating Talabat's closure for breaching Articles 7 and 11 of Law No. 8 of 2008 and its executive regulations.
The suspension was prompted by multiple consumer complaints and was deemed necessary to protect consumer rights and ensure transparency in service provision.
In response, Talabat committed to rectifying the violations, established a permanent call center to manage complaints, resolved all cases submitted to the Ministry, and paid fines amounting to QAR 1.14 million.
Acknowledging Talabat's cooperation and efforts to amend practices and enhance services, the Ministry has authorized the resumption of operations. It emphasized that this decision reflects its dedication to protecting consumer rights while supporting market stability and encouraging compliance.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry reaffirmed its commitment to strict monitoring and taking firm action against any entity violating Law No. 8 of 2008 or its executive regulations. It stressed that unlawful practices undermining consumer rights or market transparency will not be tolerated.
