Doha, Qatar: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani welcomed Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his delegation from the United States at the Amiri Diwan on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The meeting focused on strengthening strategic relations between the two nations, with an emphasis on the defense sector.

Key discussions included regional and international developments, particularly the repercussions of the recent Israeli attack on Doha. The leaders also deliberated on future diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and prisoners, and reducing regional tensions.

The meeting was also attended by Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
