His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani participated in a high-level consultative summit in Riyadh on Friday, alongside leaders from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jordan’s King Abdullah II, and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Hosted by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, the closed-door meeting focused on countering former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed plan for Gaza and developing a comprehensive post-war reconstruction strategy. The discussions aimed to reinforce Arab unity in safeguarding Palestinian rights while ensuring a sustainable rebuilding process for the war-torn enclave.
The summit, described as an informal yet strategic gathering, served as a platform for Arab leaders to coordinate their stance against any initiatives that threaten Palestinian sovereignty. Key topics included the projected $53 billion reconstruction plan for Gaza and potential frameworks for long-term regional stability. Egypt is expected to present a multi-phase reconstruction blueprint, while the outcomes of this meeting will play a crucial role in shaping discussions at the upcoming emergency Arab summit in Cairo on March 4.
The meeting was convened at the invitation of His
Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince
and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Discussions focused on
strengthening regional cooperation and addressing key issues of mutual
interest.
