Doha:
Qatar-China bilateral relations have entered their strongest historic era,
holding immense potential for future strategic partnership, according to
Chinese Ambassador to Qatar H.E. Cao Xiaolin.
Speaking
at an embassy press briefing, Ambassador Xiaolin affirmed China’s full support
for Qatar’s national sovereignty, security, and stability amid shifting Middle
East dynamics. Following recent regional escalations, Chinese Foreign Minister
H.E. Wang Yi consulted with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign
Affairs, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani. During the talks,
Beijing condemned non-military and civilian-targeted attacks, stating that the
territorial integrity and sovereignty of Gulf Arab states must be respected.
Economic
ties have expanded significantly, with China maintaining its position as
Qatar’s largest trading partner and top export destination since 2020.
Bilateral trade volume rose from $10.6 billion in 2014 to $23.81 billion in
2025, which is a nearly 125% increase over a decade. While energy remains the
foundation of trade, future cooperation is expanding into advanced artificial
intelligence (AI), green energy, and food security.
The ambassador noted that this long-term cooperation is reinforced by aligned governance goals, drawing parallels between China's newly ratified 15th Five-Year Plan and the Qatar National Vision 2030, both of which prioritize technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and community development.
