New Delhi: Dr. K. Srikar Reddy, the newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Qatar, has received his appointment letter from President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He will assume charge in Doha shortly.

Dr. Reddy, a 2001-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, expressed gratitude for the President's guidance on strengthening the strategic bilateral cooperation between India and Qatar in the coming years. He described the meeting with the President as a moment of honour and respect in a post on X.

Prior to his appointment to Doha, Dr. Reddy served as Consul General of India in San Francisco. He has also held key positions including Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, where he played a crucial role in strengthening India's trade ties with West Asian and African nations. He was instrumental in initiatives leading to the India-Mauritius Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement and the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

Dr. Reddy has served in Indian missions in Germany and Switzerland, and held assignments in the Pakistan and East & Southern Africa desks at the Ministry of External Affairs. He served as Counsellor at India's Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organization in Geneva from August 2014 to October 2017, and as Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City from October 2017 to March 2020.
