Doha: Chairperson of Qatar Museums HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani inaugurated two exhibitions at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) on Wednesday, showcasing the rich cultural heritage, arts and traditions of Uzbekistan.
“Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion”, running until November 28, features 140 objects from 13 museums in Uzbekistan, covering the country’s history from the eighth century to the present day. The exhibition highlights Uzbek artistic traditions, costumes, crafts and cultural heritage.
“Ektashif: Uzbekistan”, continuing until November 24, presents works by seven Qatari artists inspired by their research journeys to Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara. Their works explore Uzbek architecture, ceramics, textiles and traditional crafts.
The exhibitions form part of cultural exchange initiatives between Qatar and Uzbekistan, offering visitors an opportunity to discover the country’s history and cultural identity while strengthening artistic and cultural ties between the two nations.
