Doha: The Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan) is observing World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21 as part of its efforts to raise social awareness about the disease, support elderly people affected by it and their families, and promote values of respect, care and inclusion.

On the occasion, Ehsan is sharing a series of awareness materials highlighting the importance of patience, understanding and effective communication with elderly people living with Alzheimer’s disease. The campaign also focuses on social responsibility towards those affected and their families, who play a vital role in providing care and support.

As part of the observance, Ehsan is illuminating a number of buildings and landmarks in purple, the official colour associated with Alzheimer’s awareness. The initiative aims to draw public attention to the challenges faced by people living with the disease and their families and encourage greater community support.

Sheikha Ahmed Al Harib, Director of the Communication and Media Department at Ehsan, said World Alzheimer’s Day is an important occasion to renew commitment to elderly people living with the disease and their families and strengthen awareness of the importance of supporting and caring for them. She added that spreading awareness and education about Alzheimer’s contributes to building a more understanding society and encourages greater care for people who are dearly loved by their families.
