Registration for Hajj 2027 opens on September 20 in Qatar

Doha: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs will open registration for citizens and residents wishing to perform Hajj during the 2027 season from midnight on Sunday, September 20, until October 20, 2026.

Registration will be conducted exclusively through the official Hajj portal at hajj.gov.qa, where applicants can complete registration procedures, select and contract with approved Hajj campaigns electronically, and access requirements and guidelines. Qatar's Hajj quota for the 2027 season is 4,400 pilgrims, with electronic screening of applications beginning immediately after registration closes and acceptance notifications sent by SMS from the end of October.

A health fitness certificate confirming medical eligibility is mandatory for registration, available through health centres across Qatar, with results entered electronically. For Qatari citizens, applicants must be at least 18 years old and may add up to three companions. Residents and GCC citizens must be at least 45 years old, must not have previously performed Hajj, may add one companion, and must have maintained continuous residence in Qatar for at least 15 years.

The ministry said the electronic registration system has been upgraded with more flexible mechanisms, allowing applicants to complete contracting and electronic payment procedures. Completing the contracting process requires payment of QR10,000 through the electronic system, counted as an advance payment towards the final cost and not a registration fee. All licensed Hajj campaigns will be available through the portal, and the public can contact the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs through its hotline 132 for enquiries.
