Messenger has announced that its standalone website, Messenger.com, will discontinue messaging services starting April 2026. The Messenger desktop application is also no longer available.
Once
the website is shut down, users accessing Messenger on a computer will be
automatically redirected to facebook.com/messages to continue chatting via Facebook. Users without a Facebook account can
still use the Messenger mobile app.
Technology reports say Meta is consolidating its messaging platforms to focus more on browser-based and mobile experiences, aiming to streamline updates and unify services across devices.
