Zurich: FIFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Argentine Football Association and three of its players following incidents that occurred after Argentina's World Cup final defeat to Spain.

The investigation covers four alleged breaches of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, including using a sporting event for non-sporting demonstrations, team misconduct, discriminatory and racist behaviour, and violations related to match order and security.

In a statement, FIFA cited alleged discriminatory chants and gestures, delayed kick-offs in several matches, inappropriate messages displayed by the team and spectators, and objects thrown by fans during multiple games. No further details were provided.

Separately, FIFA's Disciplinary Committee has also opened proceedings against Argentine players Leandro Paredes, Nahuel Molina and Thiago Almada, assistant coach Roberto Ayala, and Spanish defender Gavi over violent incidents following Spain's World Cup final victory.
