Fire erupts at Kuwait power and water desalination plant following Iranian attack

Iranian strikes on Kuwait have severely impacted critical infrastructure, targeting a power generation and water desalination plant.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy condemned the assault as a “criminal Iranian attack,” which ignited a fire at the facility. As a precautionary measure, several power generation units have been taken offline to safeguard the plant and ensure the stability of the national electricity grid.

Emergency response plans are in full swing, with firefighting and repair operations actively underway. Authorities have advised residents to conserve electricity, particularly between 1 a.m. and 5 p.m., as recovery efforts continue.

This incident coincides with heightened military activity, as Kuwait's army reported responding to hostile drone threats for the fourth time today, urging the public to adhere to safety instructions.

Additionally, Kuwait Airways announced the rescheduling of most flights following the closure of the country's airspace on July 18.
