Doha, Qatar: The National Sport Day (NSD) Committee has established specific conditions and guidelines that both private and public institutions must follow when organizing events for the state National Sports Day 2025. These measures aim to ensure the success of the events and achieve their intended objectives.
In an official statement, the committee emphasized that all ministries, government agencies, public authorities, corporations, and private sector entities are required to submit their event programs and plans by completing the NSD form available on the official website, www.msy.gov.qa.
The statement outlined key criteria for selecting events, with a primary emphasis on physical activities while avoiding extravagant festival-like displays. The committee stressed the importance of raising awareness about incorporating sports into daily life as a healthy routine, reinforcing the concept of sports as a way of life.
Furthermore, it is crucial that the proposed sporting events cater to all age groups, considering their health conditions regarding physical activities and duration to prevent stress and injuries.
The committee has reached out to government ministries and agencies, as well as public bodies and institutions, including the private sector, to emphasize the importance of adhering to these guidelines to achieve the goals outlined in Amiri decision No. 80 of 2011 regarding NSD, which aims to fulfill the noble objectives of these events.
The conditions to be followed include avoiding the construction of tents and temporary sports facilities, while ensuring strict compliance with safety and security protocols during the activities. The statement highlighted the necessity of utilizing existing sports facilities, parks, and public spaces.
Additionally, the committee stressed the importance of providing healthy food options and avoiding fast food, as well as refraining from distributing gifts and free food to the public. It emphasized that performance activities such as concerts should be replaced with exercises and physical activities, as these performances could divert public interest away from engaging in sports.
Abdulrahman bin Musallam Al Dosari, the head of the NSD committee, confirmed that the committee is currently accepting applications from all entities regarding events they plan to organize, ensuring they are evaluated and publicized effectively. He highlighted the need to distribute these activities across the country to encourage a significant number of community members to participate in sports at fields and public parks.
Al Dosari reaffirmed that NSD plays a crucial role in promoting public health and physical activity. He also pointed out that the Ministry of Sports has introduced a unique award to coincide with this event, aimed at fostering healthy competition among various institutions.
