Hyderabad: In a historic achievement, a final-year student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) has bagged a record-breaking job offer of ₹2.5 crore per annum during the ongoing campus placements. This is the highest package ever offered in the institute’s history, surpassing the previous record of around ₹1 crore set in 2017.
The offer was secured by Edward Nathan Varghese, a 21-year-old B.Tech student from the Computer Science and Engineering department. He received the pre-placement offer from Optiver, a Netherlands-based trading firm, after successfully completing a two-month internship. Varghese is scheduled to officially join the company in July this year.
Born in Hyderabad and educated in Bengaluru, Varghese has an outstanding academic record. He secured an All India Rank of 558 in JEE Advanced 2022 and scored a 99.96 percentile in CAT 2024. IIT-H officials also revealed that another CSE student received an offer worth ₹1.1 crore this placement season, marking a strong year for the institute.
