India's navy delivered hundreds of tonnes of food assistance to earthquake-stricken Myanmar on Saturday, just a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the secretive junta leader, Min Aung Hlaing.

Following the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake on March 28, India was one of the first nations to deploy aid and rescue teams to its war-torn neighbor.

According to Myanmar state media on Saturday, the death toll has surpassed 3,300. More than a week after the tragedy, survivors are still lacking adequate food and shelter.

The recent aid from India included 442 tonnes of provisions such as rice, cooking oil, noodles, and biscuits, as stated by the Indian embassy in Yangon.
