Indian Ambassador to inaugurate 20th Asian Medical Camp in Doha today

Doha: The 20th Asian Medical Camp, organised by the Centre for Indian Community (CIC Qatar) in collaboration with the Indian Doctors Club, will be held today (Friday), offering a wide range of healthcare services to thousands of expatriates. Indian Ambassador to Qatar Dr. K. Srikar Reddy will inaugurate the camp at 9 am. Sri Lankan Ambassador to Qatar Roshan Sithara Khan, representing Bangladeshi Ambassador Mashhudul Kabeer, and a Senior Counsellor from the Bangladesh Embassy will also attend the inauguration ceremony.

Senior officials from Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), along with prominent representatives from the socio-cultural sector, are also expected to attend. The camp is being organised with the approval and cooperation of Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health, HMC and PHCC.

The medical camp will operate from 6.30 am to 4 pm. More than 3,400 expatriates from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have already received digital registration cards containing their registration numbers and allotted consultation times. Medical examinations and consultations will be conducted in three shifts to ensure smooth coordination and minimise waiting times.

More than 150 specialist doctors and 250 healthcare professionals will provide medical services at the camp. Specialist consultations will be available in cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, general medicine, orthopaedics, dermatology, ophthalmology, ENT, and oral and dental health. Additional services will include physiotherapy, audiology, eye and dental examinations, counselling, and blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol tests.

The camp will also facilitate blood donation and organ donation registration, besides offering health education programmes, Basic Life Support (BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. These initiatives aim to equip participants with essential knowledge about preventive healthcare and emergency response, while encouraging greater awareness of common health conditions.

Health awareness sessions led by medical experts will be another key feature of the programme. Dermatologist Dr. Soni C. Das will conduct a session titled “Protect Your Skin, Protect Your Health”, while Hamad Hospital nephrology specialist Dr. Krishnakumar K. will speak about preventing kidney diseases and the importance of early detection. Dr. Hema K.P., gynaecologist at Aster MIMS, will lead a session on cervical cancer, covering prevention, early detection and timely treatment.

Other awareness programmes will focus on lifestyle-related conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, as well as healthy eating habits, the dangers of tobacco use, occupational health and safety, personal hygiene, life-saving measures and first aid. Qatar Red Crescent, Qatar Diabetes Association, United Nurses of India Qatar (UNIQ), Wellcare Pharmacy, Indian Pharmacists Association and Indian Physiotherapy Forum are among the organisations supporting the initiative. More than 600 CIC Qatar volunteers will assist in coordinating the camp and its activities. The initiative aims to provide quality healthcare services to low-income expatriates while strengthening awareness of preventive healthcare and healthy living through the collective efforts of medical professionals, organisations and community volunteers.
