Doha: Iran's
top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are
in Doha for talks with Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman
bin Jassim Al Thani on a potential US-Iran deal to end the war, an official
told Reuters.
The
discussions focus on the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's stockpile of highly enriched
uranium, and the potential release of frozen Iranian funds, with Iran's central
bank governor also part of the delegation.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would give diplomacy every chance before considering "another way." He confirmed a "pretty solid thing on the table" regarding Iran reopening the strait and entering nuclear negotiations. Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said a 14-point memorandum of understanding is under discussion, but cautioned that an agreement is not yet imminent. Nuclear issues would be negotiated over 60 days if a framework accord is reached.
