Doha: Primary
Health Care Corporation, represented by the Preventive Health Directorate, has
launched the "Ahlan for Oral Health 2026" campaign aimed at promoting
oral health among older adults in Qatar and ensuring their integration into
comprehensive healthcare programmes.
Dr.
Hamad Al Mudhahka, Executive Director of the Preventive Health Directorate,
stated that the campaign is part of national efforts to strengthen the link
between oral health and general health, noting that older adults require
specialised preventive and educational interventions. The campaign's slogan is
"Elderly Oral Care, Protecting Precious Smile."
The
campaign will focus on educating older adults and their families about the
importance of oral health, training caregivers and family members on proper
oral hygiene practices and denture care, and providing lectures for healthcare
professionals. Home-based dental examinations will be conducted using mobile
dental units to reach elderly individuals in their homes.
The campaign targets older adults across Qatar, as well as their caregivers, government employees, and school students who will be engaged as Oral Health Ambassadors. Activities will take place at health centres, Ehsan centres, homes, and HMC inpatient facilities. Educational videos will also be shared with school students to strengthen their connection with older adults at home.
