Manama: Qatar's Adham Al Deeb claimed the
silver medal in the individual foil event at the Asian Junior Fencing
Championships in Bahrain. He narrowly missed out on gold after losing 15-14 to
top seed Lau Kinji Tsun Yin of Hong Kong in a closely contested final, settling
for second place.
The result provides a significant boost for
the Qatari fencer ahead of the Dakar 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games, where he
is set to compete.
The championships in Bahrain brought together
junior fencers from across Asia, with Al Deeb's run to the final marking a
strong performance for Qatar.
His silver medal adds to Qatar's presence on the continental fencing stage as the country prepares for the Youth Olympics in Senegal, which open on Saturday.
