Washington: US President Donald Trump's
eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., has privately expressed concerns about the US
military conflict with Iran and reportedly urged his father to avoid another
war in the Middle East, according to a report by The Atlantic.
During the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump
Jr. had advocated keeping the United States out of foreign wars. He had also
publicly praised his father's handling of tensions involving Iran, arguing that
Trump's leadership had helped prevent a full-scale conflict.
According to sources cited in the report,
Trump Jr. has repeatedly voiced his opposition to the current conflict in
private conversations with his father. The war has also exposed divisions
within the MAGA movement, with some conservatives arguing that foreign military
engagements undermine domestic priorities. Senior administration officials have
reportedly expressed private doubts about aspects of the conflict.
A Pew Research Center survey conducted from September 28 to October 4, 2026, found that 65 percent of Americans disapproved of Trump's handling of the Iran conflict, while 33 percent approved. The survey also indicated declining Republican support and widespread expectations that the conflict could continue for more than a year.
