Fifth edition of ‘For My Love’: Radio Malayalam to host 14 expat wives in Qatar

Doha: The much-admired social service initiative, For My Love, is set to host its fifth edition in February 2024, bringing 14 wives of long-time expatriates to Qatar for a week-long visit. Organized by Radio Malayalam, the program aims to honor the sacrifices of expatriates who have worked in Qatar for decades while staying away from their families. This year’s edition will focus on spouses who have never had the opportunity to visit the country where their husbands have spent the majority of their lives.

Arriving on February 18, the participants will have the chance to experience Qatar’s culture and witness the land their spouses have helped shape. Over the course of their visit, they will attend various events hosted by community organizations and institutions. The highlight of the program will be a grand community reception on February 19 at the Holiday Inn Hotel, where dignitaries, officials, and community members will gather to celebrate these guests. Additionally, five senior expatriates residing in Qatar will also be honored during the event as a tribute to their decades of dedication.

For My Love began in 2018 with 10 couples and has grown steadily each year, with 14 couples participating in 2024. This initiative not only reunites families but also shines a spotlight on the resilience and contributions of the expatriate community. It serves as a reminder for younger generations to appreciate the efforts of their predecessors who paved the way for progress in their homeland and abroad. Organizers have expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Indian community in Qatar, which has made this initiative a success.

Radio Malayalam & QFM CEO Anvar Hussain and Deputy General Manager Noufal Abdurahman shared details of the initiative during a press conference. Representatives of partner organizations also attended the official launch. Hundreds of applications were received this year, with 14 participants selected based on nominations from radio listeners.
