Doha, Qatar: The famous Clock Tower overlooking the Holy Kaaba illuminated the skies of Makkah on the evening of August 23, 2025, to announce the arrival of the Hijri month of Rabi Al Awwal, 1447.

The Haramain account on X posted pictures of the tower glowing in green, a symbolic gesture that marked the beginning of the new lunar month.

Rabi Al Awwal is a special month in the Islamic calendar, as Muslims across the world commemorate the birth of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) on the 12th day.

The Islamic (Hijri) calendar is based on lunar sightings, with each new month beginning once the crescent moon is observed, making the lighting of the tower a significant moment for the faithful.
