Qatar slams global inaction for empowering Israeli aggression

Jeddah: Qatar participated in the Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah to address the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi led Qatar’s delegation and reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause remains central for the Islamic nation amid the unprecedented escalation in Gaza.

Al Muraikhi strongly condemned Israel’s unlawful practices, including attempts to displace Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem, as well as its settlement expansion policies. He warned of the dangerous repercussions of such actions on regional and global security.

He also denounced the targeting of journalists, including six recently killed in Gaza, five of whom worked for Al Jazeera, describing it as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law aimed at silencing the truth. Additionally, he condemned attacks on medical personnel working under extremely difficult conditions, calling them double crimes against humanity that require accountability.

The minister urged urgent international action to halt Israeli aggression, lift the blockade on Gaza, and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid. He reaffirmed Qatar’s continued efforts, alongside Egypt and the US, to achieve a ceasefire, secure the release of hostages and prisoners, and push forward a political path toward a two-state solution, welcoming recent international recognitions of Palestinian statehood.
