Ministry of Municipality launches 2025/2026 seasonal vegetable markets across Qatar

Doha: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Agricultural Affairs Department, has announced the launch of the 2025/2026 season for local agricultural produce markets, beginning tomorrow, Thursday, November 6, 2025. The markets will operate in Al Khor, Al Thakhira, Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, and Al Shahaniya, while the Al Mazrouah market will continue its year-round operations. Open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7 AM to 3 PM, the markets will feature over 100 Qatari farms offering a wide variety of fresh, high-quality local produce.

The initiative aims to strengthen Qatar’s local agriculture sector by creating direct sales channels between farmers and consumers, ensuring fair returns for producers while providing the public with affordable, fresh products. The markets will showcase seasonal vegetables, honey, dates, and other farm products, contributing to sustainable agricultural growth in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Food Security Strategy. Equipped with shaded areas, organized parking, and quality inspection teams, the markets ensure a safe and convenient shopping experience for all visitors.

Since their inception in 2012, the local produce markets have seen remarkable growth-from a single market in Al Mazrouah with 24 participating farms to over 160 farms by 2015, significantly increasing sales volumes. The Ministry emphasized that these markets continue to play a key role in supporting Qatari farmers, promoting self-sufficiency, and enhancing food security across the nation, while inviting citizens and residents to visit and support local agricultural products.
