Doha, Qatar: The Qatari passport has secured the 44th position globally with a mobility score of 120, according to the Global Passport Power Rank 2025 released recently by Arton Capital.
Qatari citizens enjoy visa-free access to 69 countries and visa-on-arrival entry to 42 countries. The report notes that visas are required for 78 destinations, while electronic travel authorisation (ETA) is available for nine countries.
This year’s index places the United Arab Emirates at the top, granting its passport holders visa-free access to 179 countries. Singapore, which climbed from 30th to 2nd place, shares the second position with Spain, both offering visa-free travel to 175 destinations.
Within the GCC, Kuwait follows Qatar at rank 45, while Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are listed at 48, and Oman at 51.
Among major global passports, the report highlights a slight decline for some nations. The United States has a 2025 mobility score of 168 (ranked 9th), down from 173 last year. The United Kingdom, previously holding a mobility score of 174 (rank 7) in 2024, now stands at 169 and rank 8.
The Passport Index evaluated 199 passports, including 193 UN member states and six territories, using a three-tier assessment system based on mobility scores, visa-free versus visa-on-arrival ratios, and the UNDP Human Development Index (2018) as a tie-breaker.
The report also observed a 1.3% decline in global openness for 2025, attributed to increasing security measures and evolving travel regulations worldwide.
