QatarEnergy signs agreement with Samsung C&T for construction of major solar power plant in Dukhan

Doha, Qatar: QatarEnergy has signed an agreement with Samsung C&T's Engineering & Construction Group to construct a major solar power plant in Dukhan. 


This ambitious project, set to become one of the largest solar power plants globally, will be developed in two phases and is expected to reach a total electricity generation capacity of 2,000 megawatts (MW) by mid-2029. Upon completion, the plant will significantly advance Qatar's renewable energy goals by doubling the nation's solar power production capacity.


The agreement was formalized by His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, alongside Sechul Oh, President & CEO of Samsung C&T. 


The signing ceremony took place at QatarEnergy's headquarters in Doha, witnessed by HE Abdulla bin Ali Al-Theyab, the President of Kahramaa, and senior executives from both companies.
