Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order withdrawing the United States from several United Nations organizations, including the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The order also calls for a
broader review of U.S. funding for the UN, including its involvement in the
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The decision reflects the Trump
administration’s ongoing criticism of these UN bodies, citing concerns over
alleged bias and inefficiency. The move is expected to have significant
implications for U.S. foreign policy and international relations.
