The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education reported on Tuesday that over 21,000 students and teachers have been killed in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since the onset of Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023. The ministry detailed that 19,932 students have died and 30,102 have been injured in Gaza. In the occupied West Bank, 148 students were killed, 1,045 injured, and 846 arrested.
Furthermore, the report highlighted that 1,037 teachers and administrators were killed and 4,757 injured across both regions, with more than 228 arrests in the West Bank. The ministry also revealed the complete destruction of 179 government schools in Gaza, alongside 63 university buildings.
Additionally, 118 government schools and over 100 schools affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) were bombed and vandalized. The aggression resulted in the removal of 30 schools from the educational register, displacing students and educators. In the West Bank, three schools were destroyed, with eight universities and colleges facing repeated raids and vandalism.
