Amir and Syrian President meet in Doha to discuss regional security

Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, HE Ahmed Al Sharaa, at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing significant regional and international developments.

During the talks, President Al Sharaa expressed Syria's firm solidarity with the State of Qatar following recent Iranian attacks on Qatar and other regional nations. He affirmed Syria's support for the measures taken by Qatar to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens.

The two leaders discussed ways to elevate cooperative relations between the two brotherly countries across various fields. They also affirmed their shared commitment to supporting stability and security throughout the region.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, HE Asaad Hassan Al Shaibani. Following their bilateral discussions, the Amir hosted an official luncheon in honor of the Syrian President and his accompanying delegation.
