Qatar launches TIMSS 2027 pilot test across 40 schools

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the launch of a pilot test for the TIMSS 2027 international study, set to begin on Sunday, April 26. The initiative will involve a selected sample of 40 public and private schools, targeting students in Grades 4 and 8.

The pilot phase is designed to assess the readiness of both schools and students, while also evaluating the technical and organizational procedures required for the main study. This step is crucial to ensure that the actual assessment is conducted in line with internationally approved standards.

TIMSS, which measures global trends in mathematics and science education, provides key insights into student performance and educational quality. By participating in this preparatory phase, Qatar aims to strengthen its performance and align its systems with global benchmarks.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to improving educational outcomes and enhancing student competencies in mathematics and science. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to advance the national education system and achieve strong results in international assessments.
