Doha: Chaliyar Doha, a leading environmental organization in Qatar, marked its 10th anniversary with a grand celebration at the ICC. The organization, established in 2015 by expatriates from 24 Panchayats in Malappuram and Kozhikode districts along the Chaliyar River, continues to uphold its mission of environmental conservation. The anniversary also commemorated the legacy of K.A. Rahman Sahib, the founder of the Chaliyar agitation, whose efforts against water and air pollution remain an inspiration.
The event featured a special lecture, Puzha Varthamanangal (The Current Affairs of the River), delivered by Patron E.A. Nasser Kodiyathur in memory of K.A. Rahman Sahib. Chaliyar Doha passed a resolution calling for the inclusion of Rahman Sahib's biography in educational curriculums to honor his contributions as one of Kerala’s pioneering environmental activists. President C.T. Sidhique Cheruvadi presided over the event, while General Secretary Sabikhussalam Edavanna extended a warm welcome to the gathering.
Chief Patron Shoukathali T.A.J inaugurated the function, highlighting the organization’s dedication to environmental awareness. Chief Advisor Zameel Abdul Vahid Chaliyam presented an overview of Chaliyar Doha's achievements over the decade. Founder President V.C. Mashhood and Founder General Secretary Siddique Vazhakad reflected on the journey of the organization, while Treasurer Abdul Azeez Cheruvannur expressed gratitude to attendees in the vote of thanks.
